Pick up from Kigali & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

A driver-guide from Kitano Tours and Safari picks you up from your hotel in Kigali or from a convenient public place and you drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The park we travel to depends on where we have secured your gorilla permits. It is a short drive of about 3 hours. When you factor in the border crossing delays at Gatuna or Cyanika, you should arrive in Bwindi or Kisoro town in the early evening. Check in at Travelers Rest Kisoro or similar and have the rest of the day to yourself. Later, enjoy dinner and your overnight stay

Days 2: Mountain gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your safari driver and head to the park’s headquarters (park offices) for mountain gorilla trekking experience the highlight of this safari as early as 07:00 am, you will join other trekkers for briefing session where you will be taken through the rules and regulations to follow while on this experience.

You be grouped into 8 people and trek into the jungle of Mgahinga searching for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 4-6 hours with 1 hour of being in the presence of mountain gorillas. The Nyakagezi gorilla family – the only habituated gorilla family in Mgahinga Gorilla national park has a history of being mobile (migrating to Congo and Rwanda), however for the recent years it has settled in Mgahinga. In the period of one hour you are to spend in the presence of mountain gorillas, you will enjoy observing the behavior of the gorillas which is similar to humans, take pictures and watch baby gorillas playing around in the watch of their mothers and dominant silverback. After one hour, you will trek back to the park headquarters and proceed to our lodge for refreshing. Then checkout and transfer back to Arusha for drop off either at the airport or at the hotel in Kigali.
